Leading the Triangle
The Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC)
We take great pride in our ability to recruit, train, and retain the finest quality real estate professionals.
Specifically designed to present the most popular shows on tour, since opening in 2008, the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) has delivered some of the finest attractions in the region.
With no seat further from the stage than 135 feet, it is often said that at the DPAC, “no matter where you sit, you’re up close.”
Featuring world-class performers, spacious seating, state-of-the-art sound and lighting, combined with convenient parking, DPAC allows you to experience live performances in an entirely new way.
DPAC's 103,000 square foot, 2,800-seat state of the art Broadway-style theater is located on a former industrial brownfield site. The center represents the first phase of a masterplan to renovate the downtown and historic Durham area.
Connecting a growing arts community with the downtown area, the success of the DPAC has emboldened the development of an eighteen-story county courthouse, a six-story design center, an upscale boutique hotel, and a multi-story, mixed-use residential and office development.
Energy efficiency played a large role in the design of the performing arts center, which features a large curtain wall with both clear and insulated fritted glass. This multi-story glass wall allows for an sweeping day lit lobby with commanding views of the Durham skyline. The center's mindful placement on the lot minimizes solar heat gain, while maximizing day lighting. To complete the feeling of openess, energy efficient natural ventilation systems bring in fresh air to the guests.
The product of a community-supported public funding agreement, DPAC is the result of an effort led by the theater’s award winning Chapel Hill architect, Philip Szostak, FAIA, who served as co-developer, spokesperson and fund-raiser for the project.
Centrally located in the American Tobacco District, the DPAC is just minutes off I-40, I-540 and I-85, and adjacent to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Not surprisingly, the DPAC is rapidly emerging as a prime theatrical destination for residents from every corner of the Greater Triangle Region.
